Presentation and preparation

200 mg/mL (volume: 1 mL)

Equivalent to zuclopenthixol (base) 144.4 mg/mL.

IV administration

Never administer intravenously.

Other routes of administration

IM: Suitable. Give undiluted by deep IM injection into the gluteal region. Volumes greater than 2 mL should be administered into two different injection sites.

SC: Not recommended.

Additional information

Do not confuse Clopixol Depot with the zuclopenthixol short-acting preparation Clopixol Acuphase. Refer to Product Information for details.

Clopixol Depot and Clopixol Acuphase may be mixed together, if necessary, in the same syringe to reduce the number of IM injections.

A test dose is recommended prior to the first depot injection to establish tolerability.

Concomitant use of CNS depressants (e.g. opioids, parenteral benzodiazepines, IM olanzapine) increases the risk of respiratory depression, sedation, coma and death.

Patients at risk of prolonged QT: Monitor ECG prior to use where possible.

Monitor closely for extrapyramidal side effects. 

Solution should be a clear, yellow viscous oil.
