Strength

10 mg/mL (volume: 0.2 mL, 1 mL)

IV administration

Give undiluted over at least 30 seconds or dilute with compatible fluid and give over 15 to 30 minutes.

Give into the lowest part of the infusion set during continuous infusion of sodium chloride 0.9% or glucose 5%.

Maximum rate: 1 mg/minute.

Other routes of administration

IM: Konakion MM Paediatric only: Suitable. Give undiluted. Inject into the thickest part of the anterolateral thigh.

SC: Not recommended.

Glucose 5%

Y-site only: 

Sodium chloride 0.9%

Additional information

Observe closely for anaphylactic reactions.

Avoid IM route in the presence of coagulopathy and in patients receiving anticoagulants.

Solution should be clear, yellow, very viscous, odourless or nearly odourless oil. May cause pain or irritation at injection site.

Do not use if solution is turbid or has become separated.

Protect from light during storage and administration. Cover bag and line with aluminium foil during IV infusion.
