90 mg/mL (volume: 500 mL)

150 mg/mL (volume: 100 mL)

300 mg/mL (volume: 50 mL, 100 mL)

IV administration

Dilute the dose in an equal volume of a compatible fluid and infuse slowly, via a large vein, at a rate according to age:

5 months to less than 1 year: 1.3 mg/minute.

1 year to less than 11 years: 3.3 mg/minute.

11 years and older: 33 mg/minute.

For patients with very fine or damaged veins, consider diluting to 30 mg/mL with water for injections.

IM: Suitable.

SC: Suitable.

Compatible IV fluids

Glucose 5%

Sodium chloride 0.9%

Y-site only:

Potassium chloride 20 mmol/L

Additional information

Extravasation risk.

Rapid administration may cause transient dizziness.

If redness or pain occurs during administration:

  • cease infusion and inform medical staff
  • exclude extravasation as cause of pain
  • check concentration and infusion rate
  • wait for symptoms to resolve
  • reduce infusion concentration, if possible
  • resume infusion at a slower rate
  • gently massage the arm, along the vein, at the infusion site

Ensure adequate hydration.

Solution should be clear and colourless or slightly yellow.

Protect from light during storage. 

Refrigerate, do not freeze.

Discard any unused vial or bag contents.
