IV administration

Give undiluted or dilute to a convenient volume and give over at least 2 to 3 minutes. Give over 4 minutes if patient is borderline hypotensive.

Other routes of administration

IM: Not recommended.

SC: Not recommended.

Additional information

Avoid use in neonates and infants due to the risk of refractory hypotension and cardiac arrest. Administration in the presence of a specialist recommended.

Continuous ECG and blood pressure monitoring necessary.

Use only when facilities for cardiac monitoring and cardio-respiratory resuscitation exist.

IV calcium should be readily available to treat verapamil-induced hypotension if necessary.

Protect from light during storage.
