Presentation and preparation

IV administration

Never administer intravenously.

Other routes of administration

Shake well before use.

Kenacort-A 10 only:

IM: Not recommended.

Intra-articular: Suitable. Give undiluted.

Intra-bursal: Suitable. Give undiluted.

Intra-lesional: Suitable, either intradermally or subcutaneously. Give undiluted.

Intra-synovial: Suitable. Give undiluted.

Kenacort-A 40 only:

IM: Suitable. Give undiluted. Inject deep into the gluteal muscle.

SC: Not recommended.

Intra-articular: Suitable. Give undiluted.

Intra-synovial: Suitable. Give undiluted.

Additional information

Use with caution in neonates; contains benzyl alcohol which has been linked with ‘gasping syndrome’.

Shake well before use to ensure an even suspension. Do not use if suspension is clumpy or granular in appearance.

Use immediately after withdrawal from ampoule to prevent settling in the syringe.

Suspension should be opaque white.

Protect from light during storage.
