IV administration

Give undiluted or dilute to a convenient volume and give over 10 to 30 seconds.

Other routes of administration

IV is the recommended route.

IM: Suitable. Give undiluted by deep IM injection. Use only if IV route is not available. 

SC: Not recommended.

Glucose 5%

Sodium chloride 0.9%

Suxamethonium 2 mg/mL or weaker:

Glucose 5% and sodium chloride 0.9%

Glucose 5% and sodium chloride 0.45%

Glucose 10%

Hartmann’s

Ringer’s

Y-site only and suxamethonium 20 mg/mL or weaker:

Potassium chloride 20 mmol/L

Y-site only and suxamethonium 2 mg/mL or weaker:

Plasma-Lyte 148

Additional information

For use in theatre, emergency or intensive care settings only.

Rapid administration may result in severe bradycardia or asystole. Close continuous cardiac monitoring necessary. 

Use only when facilities for cardiac monitoring and cardio-respiratory resuscitation exist.

Infusions are not recommended in neonates, infants or children due to the risk of malignant hyperthermia.

Flush the line well with a compatible fluid post dose to avoid re-paralysis.

Refrigerate, do not freeze.
