Strength
(volume: 20 mL)
Contains 0.67 mmol of phosphate, 1.07 mmol of sodium and 0.13 mmol of potassium per mL.
IV administration
Concentrations and rates refer to the phosphate component.
Central line access: Dilute to 0.12 mmol/mL or weaker.
Peripheral line access: Dilute to 0.05 mmol/mL or weaker.
Infuse over 6 hours at a rate of 0.06 mmol/kg/hour or less.
If necessary, infuse at a maximum rate of 0.2 mmol/kg/hour.
RCH Standard Concentrations:
Central line access: 0.12 mmol/mL
Peripheral line access: 0.05 mmol/mL
Other routes of administration
IM: Not recommended.
SC: Not recommended.

Glucose 5%
Sodium chloride 0.9%
Additional information
Extravasation risk.
Note potassium content. Rapid infusion can cause hypotension, dysrhythmia and cardiac arrest; monitor ECG, respiratory rate and blood pressure when infused at the maximum rate.
Do not infuse with IV calcium-containing fluids. If necessary, phosphate and IV calcium-containing products may be administered concurrently via completely separate lines. However, this may increase the risk of calcium deposition in soft tissues in some circumstances.
