20 mg/mL elemental iron (volume: 5 mL)
IV administration
Patients equal to or greater than 2 years of age: Give undiluted as a slow injection over 5 minutes.
For IV infusion, dilute to 1 mg/mL and give according to dose:
Doses less than or equal to 100 mg: Give over at least 30 minutes.
Doses greater than 100 mg and less than or equal to 200 mg: Give over at least 1 hour.
Doses greater than 200 mg and less than or equal to 300 mg: Give over at least 1.5 hours.
Haemodialysis: Give early in haemodialysis. Give undiluted over 5 minutes into the dialysis line.
Other routes of administration
IM: Contraindicated.
SC: Contraindicated.

Sodium chloride 0.9%
Additional information
Extravasation risk.
Observe closely for anaphylactic reactions.
Observe for reactions during and for 30 minutes after the end of the infusion.
Use only when facilities for cardiac monitoring and cardio-respiratory resuscitation exist.
Administration may cause significant hypotension; monitor blood pressure during and after administration.
Premedication may be required, refer to relevant local guideline.
Solution should be dark brown.
Discard any unused solution.
