Caldolor: 100 mg/mL (volume: 4 mL, 8 mL) 

Pedea: 5 mg/mL (volume: 2 mL)

Preparations contain different salts and are not interchangeable.

IV administration

Caldolor:

Dilute to 4 mg/mL or weaker and give over at least 10 minutes.

Pedea:

Give undiluted or dilute to a convenient volume and give over 15 minutes. 

Flush infusion line before and after administration over 15 minutes with a compatible fluid.

Other routes of administration

IM: Not recommended.

SC: Not recommended.

Compatible IV fluids

Glucose 5%

Sodium chloride 0.9%

Caldolor:

Hartmann’s

Additional information

Ensure adequate hydration to reduce renal toxicity.

Solution should be clear and colourless or slightly yellow.

Discard any unused vial contents. 

Pedea:

Extravasation risk.

For use in the neonatal intensive care unit under supervision of an experienced neonatologist.

Monitor renal function closely during treatment.
