IV administration

IM is the preferred route.

If IV route is necessary, dilute to 0.1 mg/mL and infuse over 30 minutes. 

5 mg/mL strength only: Doses of 5 mg or less may be given undiluted over at least 1 minute.

Other routes of administration

IM: Suitable and preferred route. Give undiluted by deep IM injection.

SC: Suitable. Give undiluted.

Compatible IV fluids

Folic acid 0.1 mg/mL or weaker:

Glucose 5%

Sodium chloride 0.9%

Additional information

Refrigerate, do not freeze.

Solution should be clear and yellow.

Discard any unused vial contents.

Protect from light during storage.
