Presentation and preparation
50 microgram/mL (volume: 2 mL, 5 mL, 10 mL)
IV administration
Give undiluted over 3 – 5 minutes or dilute to a convenient volume for infusion.
Give doses equal to or greater than 5 microgram/kg over at least 10 minutes.
Other routes of administration
IM: Suitable.
SC: Suitable.

Monitor respiratory rate, sedation and blood pressure.
Rapid administration may cause chest wall rigidity and respiratory distress, especially in neonates.
Use only where facilities for cardiac monitoring and cardio-respiratory resuscitation exist.
Concomitant use of CNS depressants (e.g. parenteral benzodiazepines, IM olanzapine) increases the risk of respiratory depression, sedation, coma and death.
Protect from light during storage.
