Sodium chloride 0.9% 5 mL 8 mg/mL

Reconstitute with 5 mL of sodium chloride 0.9% for IV administration.

IV administration

Dilute to 0.4 to 0.8 mg/mL using sodium chloride 0.9% and give by intermittent infusion over 10 to 30 minutes.

Dilute to 0.8 mg/mL and give as a continuous infusion at a rate of 8 mg/hour.

Other routes of administration

IM: Not recommended.

SC: Not recommended. May be given as an intermittent or continuous SC infusion in palliative care settings.

Compatible IV fluids

Sodium chloride 0.9% is the preferred diluent.

Additional information

Observe closely for anaphylactic reactions.

Flush line with a compatible fluid before and after administration.

Discard vial contents after use.

Protect from light during storage.
