Presentation and preparation
Ephedrine hydrochloride:
Ampoule:
3 mg/mL (volume: 10 mL)
30 mg/mL (volume: 1 mL)
Prefilled syringe:
30 mg/10 mL
Ephedrine hydrochloride 1 mg is equivalent to ephedrine 0.82 mg.
Ephedrine sulfate:
Ampoule:
30 mg/mL (volume: 1 mL)
Ephedrine sulfate 1 mg is equivalent to ephedrine 0.77 mg.
IV administration
Ephedrine hydrochloride:
Ephedrine Hydrochloride (Juno) and Ephedrine Interpharma only:
Give undiluted (3 mg/mL) as a slow IV injection.
Ephedrine-Hameln only:
Dilute to 3 mg/mL with sodium chloride 0.9% and give as a slow IV injection.
Ephedrine sulfate:
Dilute to 5 mg/mL with glucose 5% or sodium chloride 0.9% and give as a slow IV injection.

IM: Ephedrine sulfate only: Suitable.
SC: Ephedrine sulfate only: Suitable.
