IV administration
IV is not the preferred route.
Use undiluted or dilute to a convenient volume and give by rapid IV injection.
Expel air bubble before injection. Flush line with a compatible fluid before and after injection.
Part-doses: Use graduated prefilled syringes; expel excess enoxaparin before injection.
Haemodialysis: Give at the start of haemodialysis via the arterial line of the circuit.
Other routes of administration
IM: Not recommended.
SC: Suitable and preferred route. Give by deep SC injection into the abdomen while the patient is lying down. Do not massage injection site as bruising may occur.
Part-doses: Use graduated prefilled syringes; expel excess enoxaparin before injection.
Direct SC injection into the patient: Do not expel air bubble before injection.
SC injection into an indwelling catheter (such as InsuflonTM): Expel air bubble before injection to prevent repeated air instillation into site.

Solution should be clear and colourless or slightly yellow.
