Dilute to 8 mg/mL or weaker and using a vein with adequate blood flow, give over 1 hour.

Compatible IV fluids
Sodium chloride 0.9% is the preferred diluent.
Glucose 5%
Cidofovir 3.5 mg/mL or weaker:
Glucose 5% and sodium chloride 0.45%
Additional information
Cytotoxic medication: refer to RCH Safe Handling of Hazardous Medicines Procedure or relevant local guideline.
Cidofovir administration must be accompanied by IV hydration using sodium chloride 0.9% and oral probenecid. Refer to local guidelines.
Discard any unused vial contents.
