Presentation and preparation

One unit is equivalent to pure peptide 0.2 microgram.
IV administration
IV is the preferred route for emergencies.
Dilute dose in 500 mL of sodium chloride 0.9% and give over at least 6 hours. Administer solution immediately after dilution.
Other routes of administration
Maximum of 2 mL per injection site.
IM: Suitable. Preferred route for volumes more than 2 mL. Give undiluted.
SC: Suitable. Give undiluted.

Sodium chloride 0.9%
Additional information
Extravasation risk.
Observe closely for anaphylactic reactions. Avoid using glass or hard plastic containers for administration.
Skin testing is advisable prior to administration to determine sensitivity: Withdraw 0.2 mL of Miacalcic injection (50 units/mL) using a tuberculin syringe, then dilute to 1 mL using sodium chloride 0.9%. After fully mixing, administer 0.1 mL by intradermal injection to the medial forearm. After 15 minutes of observation, moderate erythema or blisters will be regarded as a positive reaction. Refer to local protocol for more information.
