Shake the vial vigorously for at least 30 seconds until the suspension appears uniform. Use immediately. If not used immediately, shake the vial vigorously for 1 minute to resuspend before administration. Do not store reconstituted suspension in the syringe.
Abilify Maintena: Pre-filled Dual Chamber Syringe:

Push plunger rod slightly to engage threads, then rotate plunger rod fully to release diluent. After plunger rod is at complete stop, middle stopper will be at indicator line. Vertically shake vigorously for 20 seconds until suspension appears uniform. Select and attach the appropriate needle. Expel air. Use immediately. If not used immediately, shake the syringe vigorously for 20 seconds to resuspend before administration.

IV administration
Never administer intravenously.
Other routes of administration
IM: Suitable. Give by deep slow IM injection into the deltoid or gluteal muscle as a single injection (doses must not be divided).
SC: Contraindicated.
Additional information
Concomitant use of CNS depressants (e.g. opioids, parenteral benzodiazepines) increases the risk of respiratory depression, sedation, coma and death.
Abilify Maintena, Aripena vial: Reconstituted vial is stable for 4 hours at room temperature. Discard any unused vial contents.
Abilify Maintena syringe: Reconstituted dual chamber syringe is stable for 2 hours at room temperature.
All forms of aripiprazole should be used immediately.
Suspensions should be milky-white and opaque.
Needle size selection depends on weight and injection site.
- Obese, gluteal: 21 gauge (2 inch)
- Obese, deltoid: 22 gauge (1.5 inch)
- Non-obese, gluteal: 22 gauge (1.5 inch)
- Non-obese, deltoid: 23 gauge (1 inch)
Do not massage injection site.
