Strength
Arginine Hydrochloride 60% Concentrated Injection: 600 mg/mL (volume: 25 mL)
R-Gene 10: 100 mg/mL (volume: 300 mL)
IV administration
Arginine Hydrochloride 60% Concentrated Injection (Phebra):
Dilute before use to 100 mg/mL and infuse over at least 30 minutes according to local protocol.
R-Gene 10:
RCH only: Refer to Arginine Intravenous Infusion Protocol.
Do not infuse directly from the bottle.
Give undiluted via a central line, or via a large vein until a central line becomes available.
Loading dose: Give over 2 hours.
Maintenance dose: Give over 1 hour.
Continuous infusion: Infuse continuously. Change syringe every 4 hours.
Other routes of administration
IM: Not recommended.
SC: Not recommended.

Additional information
Extravasation risk.
Observe closely for anaphylactic reactions.
Overdose risk: Take extreme caution when infusing arginine in paediatric patients, risk of hyperchloraemic metabolic acidosis and cerebral oedema.
Use only when facilities for cardiac monitoring and cardio-respiratory resuscitation exist.
Discard any unused infusion solution.
