Selecting a product with the appropriate amoxicillin to clavulanic acid ratio is important to prevent under or overdosing of the clavulanic acid component. Refer to relevant local guidelines.
For doses of amoxicillin component greater than 1000 mg:
Prepare the dose required using preparations containing Amoxicillin 2000 mg + Clavulanic Acid 200 mg
IV administration
Concentrations refer to the amoxicillin component.
Dilute reconstituted solution to 50 mg/mL and give over 3 minutes, or dilute to 20 mg/mL or weaker and infuse over 30 minutes.
Neonates and infants less than 3 months:
Dilute to 20 mg/ml or weaker and infuse over 30 minutes.
