Reconstitute to 100 mg/mL for IV administration. Shake well.

Reconstitute with specified fluid to 167 mg/mL or 250 mg/mL for IM administration. Shake well.
IV administration
Doses equal to or less than 30 mg/kg: Dilute to 50 mg/mL and give over 5 to 15 minutes or dilute to a convenient volume and give over 30 minutes.
Doses greater than 30 mg/kg: Dilute to 50 mg/mL or weaker and give over at least 30 minutes.
For neonates, maximum concentration if necessary: 100 mg/mL.
Other routes of administration
IV is the preferred route.
IM: Suitable, however, painful. Give reconstituted solution undiluted.
SC: Not recommended.
Compatible IV fluids
Amoxicillin 50 mg/mL or weaker:
Sodium chloride 0.9%
Amoxicillin 30 mg/mL or weaker:
Glucose 5%
Glucose 5% and sodium chloride 0.9%
Hartmann's
Y-site only and amoxicillin 50 mg/mL or weaker:
Glucose 10%
Potassium chloride 20 mmol/L
Additional information
IV aminoglycoside antibiotics are inactivated by IV cephalosporins, penicillins and teicoplanin; refer to Glossary and Notes.
Rapid IV administration may cause seizures.
Use immediately after reconstitution. Reconstituted solution should be clear and colourless to slightly opalescent or pink.
Discard any unused vial contents.
Protect from light during storage.
