The following monograph – Benzathine Benzylpenicillin has been updated to clarify the concentration of the Bicillin L-A product as it appears in the Strength field.
This update also includes the updated generic name of the drug from Benzathine Penicillin to the more accurate description of the generic product as Benzathine Benzylpenicilliin.
The change is as follows:
|900 mg/2.3 mL
To calculate part doses, use a concentration of 442 mg/mL
Also known as benzathine penicillin
|900 mg/2.3 mL of benzathine benzylpenicillin (1016.6 mg/2.3 mL of benzathine benzylpenicillin tetrahydrate).
To calculate part doses, use a concentration of 391.3 mg/mL of benzathine benzylpenicillin (442 mg/mL of benzathine benzylpenicillin tetrahydrate).
