To commemorate the 30th anniversary of publication coinciding with the 10th edition of the Paediatric Injectable Guidelines, proud Yorta Yorta artists Luke and Siena Tieri, founders of Bayadherra, were commissioned to design the cover art for this special edition of the Paediatric Injectable Guidelines.

“Healthy Children”

Yorta Itjumatj Yalka captures the connection and engagement between The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne Pharmacy Department and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and children. Rainbow pathways are inspired by the lifegiving power of the Rainbow Serpent to represent connection, strength and healing. These pathways lead towards purple yarning circles capturing meaningful engagement between the Pharmacy Department and Australian children through positive relationships and the provision of healthcare and paediatric support.

Purple journey lines connect each yarning circle to signify Pharmacy’s connection to community and the ongoing provision of healthcare to all children. Pink flowing lines capture the flow of spiritual energy and cultural knowledge whilst symbolising the movement of water and injectable medicines.

Clusters of wattle and heart-shaped Mannagum leaves acknowledge Country and the traditional bush medicines of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people reflecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s deep connection to the land and the nurturing qualities of Mother Earth; when we care for Country, Country will care for us.

Pink stars complete the artwork to provide guidance to Pharmacy and community and ensure that every child has a bright and healthy future.

RCH acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which RCH is situated, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, and we pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
